Just got back from Nevada where I went heli-skiing for the first time ever. I went with Joe Royer's outfit, Ruby Mountain Heli-skiing. Oh my. I have never skied such smooth and consistent powder. It was only boot-deep for the most part, but the snow was this strange, greasy recrystalized stuff that you could just mach super-G turns through. It was completely effortless—it tricked me into thinking I could ski. We flew two out of three days, and went cat-skiing day two. I'm still grinning ear-to-ear. Look for a detailed review of Ruby Mountain Heli-skiing in our February 2007 issue.
