Things are really looking good for world-class freeskier Jon Olsson. The young Swede won the gold medal in the 2005 World Superpipe Championships in Park City, Utah, following consecutive bronze finishes at the X Games and U.S. Freeskiing Open.

Hosted by Park City Mountain Resort, the championship featured top skiers such as veteran Andy Woods and up-and-comer Sean Field. Simon Dumont and Tanner Hall sat out the competition nursing injuries.

Olsson secured his first-place finish in his first run with a score of 90.7 in the Eagle Superpipe. Previously a repeat third-place finisher, Olsson broke the pattern with an impressive routine including plenty of vertical and a cleanly stomped cork 900 to 1080 combo.

"This is nice," said Olsson, who earned his first gold medal in the United States two years ago. "I have had a lot of third-place finishes this year."

At 22, Olsson is one of the most esteemed young skiers in the world, and his performance at the World Superpipe Championships simply augments his already considerable reputation. Other recent noteworthy highlights of Olssonàs career include six medals in superpipe and slopstyle at the 2005 X-Games; gold medals in Big Air at the 2004 and 2003 Whistler Ski and Snowboard Festival; and a gold medal in the 2004 Nordic Championships of Extreme Skiing in Sweden. Olsson is sure to continue adding to this long list, despite not having a superpipe at his home resort in Are, Sweden.

As usual, Olsson won in his signature style, rocking rabbit-fur trimmed duds from his newest sponsor, J. Lindeberg Future Sports. The line - which Olsson helped create - is designed by Swedish fashion mogul Johan Lindeberg.

"Jon is amazing," raved Lindeberg. "He has great taste. He is a true 21st century pioneer... He is the perfect role model to co-create a new modern movement in ski apparel."

Olsson may love to dress the part of the flashy, swell-headed athlete, but that is solely in the attire. Modest and casual beneath the threads, Olsson praised the pipe crew for delivering a great pipe despite abnormally cold conditions.

"I love this pipe, he said. It's not too (dangerous) and that keeps it fun."
