Lake Placid Pub and Brewery

Lake Placid Pub and Brewery
Lake Placid Pub and Brewery
An award-winning brewery.

Lake Placid Pub and Brewery started off like most microbreweries do, with a homebrew kit and a love of beer. Fourteen years later, the brewery is still thriving, has won several awards, and is popular with both locals and visitors, including President Bill and Senator Hilary Clinton. The Clinton’s favorite brew is the brewery’s signature Ubu Ale—a strong English ale featuring a smooth, rich maltiness complimented by the perfect amount of English hops. Word has it the beer was named for a legendary chocolate lab with a taste for ale.

Italian classics.

Nicola’s doesn’t look like much from the outside outside, but inside the warm décor makes you feel like you‘re in Italy. Even though the owner and manager have a reputation for being rude, the wait staff is friendly, prompt and always available. The menu can be hit or miss, but stick with the Italian classics and you won’t be disappointed. The calamari fritti is a delicious appetizer and any of the pasta dishes are worth-while.

Start off by selecting something from their weekly special drink menu that runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Make sure to catch taco Tuesday where you can chow down on a great taco bar and get four-dollar pints of Cuervo Gold margaritas.

This brewpub crafts their own beers and serves tasty pub fare.

This local brewpub cranks out delicious burgers and bubbly pints. It has a decidedly American feel, although it’s smack-dab in the middle of French-Canada. Try the german sausage, or wrap your hands around a giant burger. MicroDiable.com

Black Mountain Lodge
Burgers and barbecue from a top-notch chef.

Chef Chris Rybak, who used to work at the hoity-toity Alpenglow Stube down the road at Keystone now oversees the barbecue and burgers operation at the Black Mountain Lodge, and it’s obvious he still pays the same attention to every detail. Stop by on a sunny day, when they set up an ice cream bar outside.
