Midwest No. 5: Boyne Highlands, Harbor Springs, Mich.
Since 1964, Boyne Highlands has been a mainstay in Midwest skiing and a perennial Top 10 finisher. The Highlands' hallmark is the resort's vast trail network, which appeals to all age groups and skill levels.
Earlier this fall the good news in Michigan was that Sugar Loaf Resort would reopen for skiing in 2001-2002. The bad news is that Mt. Holiday will close.
