Mt. Bachelor Welcomes Summer with Skiing

Mt. Bachelor Best Summer Skiing 2012
Bachelor Summer 2012
Make off-season turns June 29-July 1.

Instead of kicking off its summer season with mountain biking or a golf course opening like most ski resorts, Mt. Bachelor suggests waxing your boards.

From June 29 through July 1, the resort is firing up the Summit Express Chair for intermediate to advance skiing. For only $30 you can play in the snow from 7:30 am to 1 pm before kicking back at the Pine Marten lodge for an on-mountain BBQ and live music. If you do the math, that’s 16.5 hours of skiing over three days for $90. That’s about what a one-day pass costs at most western resorts. Still need more reasons to go?

Mt. Bachelor, OR

Don’t come to this Pacific Northwest sleeper for the shopping or the nightlife. Come for the snow.

It can’t possibly still be snowing. The snowpack can’t possibly be this deep. My luck can’t possibly this good. Then I remember—this is the Cascades, where a 200-inch base by midwinter is average. Luck has nothing to do with it.
