Ghana's ski Olympian, Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong
Kwame "The Snow Leopard" Nkrumah-Acheampong, who learned to ski just six years ago -- at a snow dome -- hopes to inspire his countrymen.

Staging in the starthouse alongside such skiing stars as Bode Miller and Benjamin Raich at the 2010 Olympic slopes will be a lesser known -- but no less driven -- Olympian. Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, who will be skiing under the colors of Ghana, his home country, learned to ski just six years ago at an artificial snow dome in England, but has nevertheless qualified for the Vancouver Games.

Daron Rahlves
Just two weeks before ski cross makes its debut at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the U.S. Ski Team's biggest medal hope and most decorated alpine speed racer Daron Rahlves suffers a horrific crash in Aspen.

As he attempted to pass another competitor in the tricky rhythm section of the X Games ski cross course Sunday, 2010 Olympic medal hopeful Daron Rahlves crashed hard, potentially ending his season. Rahlves was taken off the course in a sled and immediately transferred to Aspen Valley Hospital, where initial reports indicate he suffered a dislocated right hip and a potential concussion.
