This video was shot in Utah's Wasatch Mountains on May 2—but you'd never know it by the amount of snow (over seven feet of fresh snow fell over a four-day period). It looks like mid-winter conditions. Check it out here.

Over the course of four days at the end of April and beginning of May, over seven feet of snow fell on Utah's Wasatch Mountains. This video was shot on May 2 by Ian Provo and Zach Siebert.

Park City Bar
Visitors no longer need to become members of clubs and bars to get a drink

Holy Schneiderweiss! We hadn't heard this until just now, but it looks like Utah is now open for boozers -- er, for discerning folks of legal age who enjoy adult beverages now and then. Utah's legislature recently killed off the state's "private club" rules, which required anyone entering a bar or club to be a member of that establishment -- usually for a small fee. There were ways around it, of course.

Blue Skies at Vail
The national and global economies are shaky -- but skiers still need their snow fix

As we all know by now, much of the economy is in the, er, powder room. But it turns out that even with the mortgage crises, the credit crunches, the layoffs and the Madoffs, skiers are a resilient bunch. Turns out the fancified side of skiing -- the fur-lined boots, the overpriced après, the spa-based lifestyle -- is not what brings us to the hill. In the end, what we're there for is putting skis to slope, and not much else matters.

The Canyons Resort Gondola
Have you ever wondered what it'd be like to be a real ski bum? Maybe now's your chance

During these hard days, it's tempting to reimagine one's life. What if you just chucked it all -- the mortgage, the debt, the credit cards -- and went full ski-bum? We're talking sleep-in-the-truck, cold-oatmeal-for-breakfast, shower-at-the-Y ski bum. Scamming free waxes from your buddies at the shop, working tables at the local brewski hall, full-moon turns at midnight on the ridge at season's end. Maybe you'd get a dog, too, a nice big lab who liked to ride the lifts with you. From where we're sitting, that doesn't seem too bad. And for a lot of people, that's a popular option.
