Austria's Benjamin Raich won the combined at the world championships Thursday for his first victory in a major international meet, and defending champion Bode Miller was eliminated after losing a ski during the downhill portion.
Bode Miller (Bretton Woods, NH) was the top American finisher in sixth, while three-time Olympian Erik Schlopy (Park City, UT) placed 13th in Monday's Olympic giant slalom.
Bode Miller was disqualified just yards from the finish of a slalom Friday, allowing Austria's Benjamin Raich to win a World Cup super-combi and pad his lead in the overall standings.
Italy's Giorgio Rocca won a World Cup slalom Sunday in which Bode Miller crashed out of yet another race to further diminish his lead in the overall standings.
