INNSBRUCK, Austria March 4, 2003 (AP)--U.S. skier Caroline Lalive was released from a hospital one day after breaking two ribs and injuring her right knee during a crash at a World Cup downhill.

She was released from Innsbruck University clinic Sunday. Michael Blauth, the medical head of the clinic's accident ward, said Lalive injured knee ligaments but did not have surgery.

"It will depend on her plans as a skier when and where she would want to undergo surgery,"Blauth said.

Lalive caught a ski in the snow Saturday, causing her to twist and fall headfirst after crossing the finish line. She slid into a barrier in the finish area, where she was hit in the head with one ski and in the back with the other.
