Snowbird, Utah March 22, 2004 - Checking e-mail between powder runs just got easier with the launch of Snowbird's first Internet Café on Level 2 of the Snowbird Center.
The Café, located between Pier 49 Pizza and Snowbird's coffee and pastry shop, offers multiple NetWORLD high-speed internet stations as well as wireless service that extends into the adjacent hallway and Tram line.
The launch of Snowbird's first Internet Café is the latest in technical advancements for the Little Cottonwood Canyon resort that began with NetWORLD high-speed wireless internet throughout the Cliff Lodge and now includes Snowbird-hosted service in the lobby of the Lodge at Snowbird.
"The demand for wireless internet among vacation and meeting guests in the Cliff Lodge was greater than we expected," said Bruce Goluskin, Snowbird's Director of Information Services. "The new Internet Café is convenient and affordable so it's likely we'll see similar usage."
Internet Café guests may choose from several options ranging from 15 minutes to four hours. The minutes may be used in one block or intermittently within 24 hours of purchase. Guests at the Cliff Lodge using NetWORLD's service may log onto the Internet Café using the Cliff Lodge's $9.95 packaged wireless service, which lasts a total of 24 hours.
The Cliff Lodge NetWORLD Hotspot service covers each of the lodge's 511 rooms using a wireless Internet card inserted in the user's laptop. The Cliff Lodge offers complimentary high-speed, desktop Internet access in its Level C Business Center.
Guests signing on to NetWORLD's Hotspot service is done through a browser similar to visiting any web address. Wireless Internet - also known as "Wi-Fi" for wireless fidelity - transmits secure data using radio waves. NetWORLD has installed hardware in strategic locations within the Cliff Lodge to ensure a quality connection throughout the 556,000 square-foot property.
