Beaver Creek, Colorado
Beaver Creek is about decadence with a purpose. The Hyatt, Beaver Creek's centerpiece hotel, perfectly defines that purpose.
As I kick back in an overstuffed sofa beneath the giant antler chandelier in the Lobby Bar, my eyes follow the massive stone fireplaces past rough-hewn timber to the cathedral ceilings. Wrapped in Western comfort, I fantasize that this is my living room. I dream that my ski boots will always be pre-heated in the morning, and that the encyclopedic concierge-who answers any question, arranges my every whim and checks the bambino into Camp Hyatt for an hour or two of peace-is moving back to New York with me. Everything at the Hyatt inspires lingering, be that in the marble tub of a spacious room, watching ice skaters from the Overlook Room or making s'mores around the outdoor firepit. And just when I couldn't imagine feeling any more relaxed, I realize that what I really need is a Japanese Mint Oil Wrap at the Allegria Spa. The Feng Shui-inspired world of soft light, soothing music and waterfalls bestows all the treatments you deserve-or Pilates and push-ups with a trainer, if you must. Why end the decadence there, when the perfect ending to the perfect day is only a sushi roll away at Patina?
