Huge Powder Day at Durango Mountain Resort

Durango, CO Feb. 23, 2004 (PR)--If you're looking for great skiing conditions, look no further than Durango Mountain Resort. Mother Nature is pounding DMR, leaving behind 20 inches of fresh snow in the last 24 hours, and it's still coming down.

Flakes began falling late Friday night, with 3 inches overnight, and then the brunt of the storm moved in. On Saturday, up to two inches of snow fell per hour, leaving 20 inches on the ground as of 1 p.m. Sunday.

Purgatory Mountain's mid-mountain base depth was reported at 74 inches, the third deepest in the state of Colorado (Silverton & Wolf Creek). Light snowfall is expected to continue through the week with another big storm forecasted for Thursday, with 8 to 14 inches of accumulation possible.

"I can't believe how much snow we've seen this season," says DMR local Russell Boone. "Huge dumps with bluebird sky days in between and today has to be the best of the year."

DMR is 100 percent open and has a jam-packed events calendar for the remainder of the season. Next weekend head up to DMR for the Sheride Snowboard Camp, a three-day clinic especially for the ladies, the SkiBike America Festival and the Dave Spencer Ski Classic. Spring deals at the resort start at just $65 per person per night, lifts and lodging with the Sunsplash Special. Please call 800-982-6102 for information and reservations.
