Denver, CO Nov. 16, 2004 - SkiTAM, an annual fundraising event of the Cable Telecommunications and Marketing Society's (CTAM) Rocky Mountain Chapter, today announced the initial committed sponsors for its 2005 10th anniversary event to be held April 7-10 in Vail, Colorado. SkiTAM's annual ski weekend directly benefits the U.S. Disabled Ski Team (USDST), having contributed more than $3 Million to the team since the program's debut in 1996, and the 10th Anniversary event in 2005 is proud to welcome NBC Universal Cable as a new platinum sponsor committed to the SkiTAM event. Returning as some of SkiTAM's staunchest supporters are Platinum sponsor Time Warner Cable; Gold sponsors Disney/ESPN returning along with 6-year alum DST Innovis; Cox Communications as a Silver level sponsor; and Accenture, Horowitz Associates, Inc. iN DEMAND and MTV Networks are all early entrants at the Bronze sponsor level.
"Over the past 10 years, SkiTAM and its sponsors have made a tremendous difference in the industry, have formed lasting relationships with each other and with the incredible athletes on the USDST, and have been responsible for growing and sustaining this fantastic disabled program into one of the world's finest," said Joe Rooney, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Cox and co-chair of the SkiTAM Sponsorship committee.
"Without SkiTAM, the USDST would not be able to compete at the level that it does, and the athletes would not have the impact on disabled sports that we have been able to achieve," said mono-skier Sara Will, a top member of the USDST during her competitive career and the first disabled athlete to be inducted into the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame where Sara was honored just one month ago. "The USDST is a remarkable beacon of promise and achievement for disabled athletes, and both the team and I wouldn't be where we are today without SkiTAM's support."
Sponsors of SkiTAM 2005 will be able to take advantage of their participation in the event to increase their visibility amongst key industry audiences, along with the understandable benefits that come with working to advance the USDST and its athletes. SkiTAM has also agreed to be the presenting sponsor for the Disabled Alpine World Cup Ski Races in January (January 10-13, 2005) in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, This will provide SkiTAM and its sponsors added exposure.
Several top industry leaders are already committed to sponsor SkiTAM 2005, with an impressive early list that is growing daily. Numerous sponsorship opportunities are available throughout the weekend, and companies are encouraged to commit now to gain the full value of the season-long build-up to the event. Details on the 2005 registration and event activities will be provided in the next few weeks. The call for SkiTAM sponsorship participation has just begun, and interested parties should contact SkiTAM at 303-797-9507 or send an inquiry to email@example.com for further information. Event registration forms, lodging and travel information will become available via www.skitam.com shortly.
Several of the sponsors involved in SkiTAM 2005 are also participating in SkiTAM's Athlete Partner Program (APP), an initiative that matches companies with individual athletes to contribute funds to support an athlete's participation on the team where SkiTAM and other available funds fall short. The APP program has been very successful this year, gaining sponsorship for 15 athletes and attracting several top industry organizations including AMC/WE, Broadbus, Comcast, the Comcast Media Center, Cox Communications, DST Innovis, INT2, Motorola, NBC Universal Cable, Samsung Electronics, Scientific Atlanta, Time Warner Cable, Roadrunner, AOL and Turner Networks.
As the single largest source of support for the USDST, funds raised by the annual SkiTAM event allow USDST athletes to train and compete throughout the ski season. Heralded as one of the best cable and telecommunications nettworking events in the country, the event includes three days of social events, sidebar opportunities with USDST athletes and other key contacts, special youth ski races and clinics, a silent auction and awards banquet, and a closing reception and dinner.
