Chris Anthony Featured in Poster

VAIL, CO – August 1, 2008 - Warren Miller Athlete and Vail resident, Chris Anthony, is featured on a newly released vintage themed poster. The poster, featuring Anthony and Mount of the Holy Cross in Vail, was created by Dave McMacken.

The poster features Anthony, skiing down Mount of the Holy Cross, leaving a trail of snow behind him. If one looks closely in the snow, it is filled with several meanings and messages. On the left hand side the date May 22, 2006, is featured. On this date, Anthony skied the famous 14er with Chris Davenport. Davenport was on a quest to ski all 54 peaks over 14,000 feet in Colorado. Anthony said that he "was grabbed by the atmosphere surrounding Mount of the Holy Cross and wanted to illustrate the lifestyle and environment."

The idea for the poster was born when Anthony left a message for Steve Woodruff at his Edwards gallery. "I loved Anthony's idea of focusing on Mount of the Holy Cross," said Woodruff. "I much prefer the old lithographs that were done for early posters. Therefore, Dave was my first choice and first contact to paint this poster."

The poster was unveiled last weekend at Woodruff's Edwards gallery. The poster can be purchased at Woodruff's galleries in Edwards or Beaver Creek. It can also be found online at www.christopherco.com.

The artist, Dave McMacken, born and educated in the Pacific Northwest, created a one of a kind piece with a few hidden images. According to Woodruff, "Dave's use of the 'spiritual' figures in the skier's powder show prior life in their reverence to the skier and spiritual nature of the Holy Cross." More of Dave's work can be seen at www.mcmackengraphics.com.
