KEYSTONE, CO June 9, 2004 — Keystone Resort kicks the summer into high gear with a mountain cross challenge Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20. The inaugural Freeride Frenzy begins at the Keystone Mountain Cross with a course designed for riders who want put their skills to the test. The Mountain Cross area is located in the Mountain House base area and lift access is not necessary. This is a spectator-friendly event, so bring the whole family to watch the best riders in Summit County go head-to-head. Following the race will be an awards party, music, tacos and beers in River Run, sponsored by Parrot Eyes.
Registration will open Saturday, June 19 at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. The Freeride Frenzy gets started Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Jump Jam & Street Party in River Run, which will coincide with 4/Cross practice at the Mt. House base area. On Sunday, June 20 the 4/Cross race will begin at 10 a.m. at the Mt. House base area followed at 4:30 p.m. by an apres party with tacos, beer awards and raffle on the Parrot Eyes Deck in River Run.
Registration is $30 ($20 for junior racers, 18 and younger) and includes tacos, raffle, prizes for top finishers and bike socks for the first 150 registered. Race categories include Male/Female, Pro, Semi-pro, Expert, Sport, Beginner and Junior (15-18 or 14 and younger). Registration applications are available at Mountain Sports outlet, River Run's Mountain Bike Headquarters or by calling (970) 496-4459. Free parking will be available in the River Run Montezuma lot and Mt. House parking lots.
