Aspen Receives 16 Inches of Snow

Aspen/Snowmass, Colo. Nov 1, 2004 — The latest Halloween storm dropped 16 inches of new snow on Aspen/Snowmass.

Sixteen inches fell on top of Snowmass in the last 24 hours with 8 inches at mid-way bring the total depth to 32 inches on top and 17 inches at mid-mountain. Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands each received a foot of new snow, while Buttermilk received eight inches.

Thanks to the cold temperatures, 16 snow guns fired up on Aspen Mountain on the FIS World Cup course at 11 pm on Halloween in preparation of opening day in just 24 days. Snow making will continue as temperatures permit.

Aspen Mountain and Snowmass open on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25. Aspen Mountain opens with FIS Women's Alpine World Cup races 11/26-11/28. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk will open on Saturday, December 11, 2004.
