HOMETOWN: Whistler, British Columbia
TITLE: Pro freeskier
WEIGHT: 175 lbs.
YEARS IN THE BUSINESS: 6
SPECIALTY: Harrisson is known for stomping landings without falling (or even hip-checking), so that editors don't have to chop up his sequences. Until 2003, he hadn't taken a spill (while filming) in five years, making him a favorite with film companies.
BIG BREAK: As a dishwasher in Whistler, B.C., Harrisson couldn't afford airfare to big mountain competitions. Bar manager Mike Varrin "sponsored" him with a couple hundred bucks in 2000, and Harrisson won the IFSA world tour the next three years running.
["Check out Harrison's Rossignols."]
TOOLBOX: He likes his Rossignol B4s beaten soft and with dulled edges. "I never tune them," he says. "They're better for landing big cliffs and shutting down speed in powder that way."
The Pro Freeskier: Hugo Harrisson
