KILLINGTON, Vt. Nov. 10, 2003--Following in the footsteps of its history-making opening day last season, Killington opens Nov. 10, at noon for skiing and riding with top to bottom terrain from Killington Peak to the base of the K1 Express Gondola. Since Nov. 7, Killington snowmakers have been stationed at the helm of the most extensive snowmaking system in North America, making snow for opening day. An average of two-to-three foot base depths (deeper in some spots) can be credited to the resort's access to 600 million gallons of water for snowmaking.

"We're looking forward to another long, snow-filled season," said Allen Wilson, Killington's president. "Last season was the first time in the resort's history that we offered top to bottom terrain accessed only by lifts; we did not use trucks to access upper elevation terrain. We found that by that offering more terrain and better quality snow right from the start we actually helped create more of a buzz in our target markets. Our goal this season, and for seasons to come, is to have a repeat of last year's successful opening day."

Killington plans to open with eight trails and two lifts across three distinct runs. Skiers and riders may access terrain via the K1 Express Gondola and the Glades Triple Chairlift. Trails include Great Northern, Rime and East Glade. A mini terrain park with a few hits and rails will open on Tuesday, when the resort will offer skiing and riding beginning at 9 a.m. Early season lift tickets cost $39/adults, $35/young adults and $29/juniors and seniors. Half-day rates are available. Early season conditions are subject to change and are for upper intermediate and advanced levels only. For the latest snow conditions and operations, guests may visit killington.com or call the snow phone at 802-422-3261.

Killington traditionally sets the pace for early season skiing and riding in eastern North America. Because of its snowmaking capacity, by Thanksgiving, Killington typically has nearly 80 trails open for all ability levels, often two to three times more than the nearest competitor. Thanksgiving Weekend packages that include three days of skiing and three nights lodging start at $68* per person. Guests may make reservations or find more information at killington.com or by calling central reservations at 800-621-MTNS.

Killington is an American Skiing Company resort. Headquartered in Park City, Utah, American Skiing Company is one of the largest operators of ski, snowboard and golf resorts in the country.
