Boulder, CO, Oct. 12, 2000--Loveland Ski Area, CO has a long-standing tradition of starting ski seasons early. This year, Loveland plans to be the first Colorado resort to open for the 2000-2001 season and vies for third on the list of U.S. resorts, behind Boreal, CA, and Big Sky, MT. The official opening is set for 8:30 A.M., Saturday, Oct. 21, and the mountain should remain open for the season.

Despite little aid from Mother Nature, "the dry cool nights have been perfect for making snow," states Scott Fortner, Loveland marketing director. One thousand vertical feet will open on three trails: "Catwalk," "Mambo," and "Home Run, to combine for a top to bottom run. Base depths will initially vary between 10 and 20 inches while snowmaking efforts continue to open additional terrain.

Lift tickets will cost $27.00 for adults (15+) and $12.00 for children (6-14) on Saturday. Loveland's discounted season pass offer has been extended through Nov. 1 costing $100 for Children (6-14); $200 for Young Adults (15-22); and $249 for Adults (23-69). Call (303) 571-5580 for information or (303) 571-5554 for current snow conditions.
