The Sonnenalp Resort of Vail is right in town, and is known to be the quaintest hotel with easy access to all the restaurants and shops in Vail. The Sonnenalp name goes back nearly a century to Bavaria. Some of the staff hail from Bavaria, further adding to the Tyrolean feel. The great service and amenities extend through every aspect of the hotel. From the heated floors in the bathrooms and personalized ski service, to the fresh cookies with turndown service and being greeted by name at the breakfast buffet, everything seems to fall effortlessly and beautifully into place. On top of that, the rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated although they can be a little stuffy because the hotel turns off the air conditioning relatively early in the season. Rooms are a great deal in the off-season, but get pretty expensive during the more popular winter-months. Also, make sure not to go too crazy in the spa and rack up an even higher bill.
