Fall Snowstorm Blankets Colorado Rockies

VAIL, Colo. Sept. 22, 2004 - Snow continues to fall in Colorado's high country, blanketing the resorts of Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone with up to six inches at resort summits. Unlike most autumn snowstorms which typically cover the peaks at 10,000 feet above sea level or higher, this storm has dropped snow down to levels of 7,000 feet creating a winter wonderland in towns such as Vail and Breckenridge.

According to the National Weather Service, snow showers are expected to continue throughout the day. The ski resorts are busy finishing on-mountain improvement projects prior to opening of the 2004-05 winter season. Breckenridge and Keystone resorts open on Nov. 12, Vail opens on Nov. 19 and Beaver Creek on Nov. 20.
