Want to be an Intern?
We are looking for motivated and self-directed college and grad-school students to join our editorial team in Boulder, Colorado. Our 12-week internships offer budding reporters and editors a glimpse into the inner workings of vertical, niche consumer magazines that are adapting to the new digital environment. Interns will help the editorial staff produce content for our print (SKI and Skiing magazines), online (skinet.com) and digital (Skiing Interactive) properties.
Duties: Interns become an integral part of our small and close-knit family. Their duties will include but may not be limited to: fact-checking, researching, reporting, writing, proofreading and editing articles; calling in products and gear for testing; participating in staff editorial meetings; developing multimedia packages for the web and brainstorming story ideas for all properties. They'll be involved in the process of assigning stories to contributors, and they'll learn how the edit and art departments work together to formulate the layout and design of written and multi-media content. We try to keep the grunt work (shipping, filing, etc) to a minimum.
Qualifications: Interns should be dedicated, hard-working, conscientious, and fun-loving, with a career interest in writing and editing. Previous journalism experience—either with local publications or your student newspaper—is preferred. A passion for the sport of skiing is a definite plus. All internships are unpaid, but school credit is available. Please email resume, cover letter, and writing samples to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate in the email subject line that you are applying for an editorial internship.
