Snowbasin, Utah, Feb. 11, 2002 - -Due to continuing high winds, the Olympic Winter Games women's downhill, orginally scheduled for a 10 a.m. start Monday, has been cancelled.

The race will be rescheduled for a date to be determined at the team captain's meeting Monday evening.

Steady 20-mph winds plagued the race start all morning on the John Paul traverse. The first postponement called for the race to start at 11 a.m., then a second moved the start until noon.

Three of the U.S. downhillers - Picabo Street (Park City, Utah), Jonna Mendes (Heavenly, Calif.) and Kirsten Clark (Raymond, Maine) left the mountain to return to home base, while Caroline Lalive (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) remained to train slalom in preparation for Thursday's combined event.
