Breckenridge, CO, Oct. 28--Halloween weekend traditionally marks the beginning of Breckenridge Ski Resort's season. Breck will fire up Peak 9's Beaver Run SuperChair at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, to serve a 9,000-foot intermediate run along upper Columbia and lower Sundown trails.

Every year, skiers dress up in costumes for this Halloween party on snow. "In my 25 years at Breckenridge, I've never known Breckenridge locals to turn down an opportunity to dress up," said Rick Sramek, vice president of mountain operations.

The annual costume contest starts at noon, and the best costumes win season passes good at Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin.

Opening day tickets cost $15 for all ages and all proceeds go toward the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, an adaptive learn-to-ski program for the handicapped.

Check back with SkiNet for more details and photos from opening day at Breckenridge.
