Can my Wife ski girls/juniors skis?

Can my Wife ski girls/juniors skis?

My wife is a beginner and very small (5'2, and about 105 lbs). Would there be any drawbacks to buying a pair of girls skis instead of womens? The only reason I ask is because the women's skis are so much more expensive and if she can get away with learning on a 140cm or 150 cm junior ski, it would save some money. We have been to a couple different resorts and both times her rentals have been around 143 - 147, so I am just curious if I am missing something other than length. Thanks.

The only difference that I know between adult and junior skis are than juniors are most likely catered to beginners, offering more forgiveness. While this sounds enticing, I think that if your wife were to consistently ski in the future she may outgrow the ski in no time. I would suggest that you spend the extra money to get an entry level adult ski, which would provide a slightly less forgiving ride, but one she will be happy with for longer assuming she sticks with skiing. While the junior ski may be okay for her now, I'm not sure it's the best long term option. Also, I have heard that junior skis use "poorer quality materials" in production but I can't verify this at all. If it were true, then the skis might not last as long, but again I have no verification of this. Hope this helps.
