Park City Ski Resort is a great place to go. Nice town and lots to do.

I just want to reiterate the same thing. Also, if you want to venture out a bit more you can make your way to either The Canyons or Deer Valley ski resorts. Park city in general has great snow and tons of things to do! Have fun

Depends on what you mean by "Out West." Someone here has answered (four times) with one suggestion that really isn't West. In California, perhaps your best bet is Heavenly (in South Tahoe). They have the best set up for snow making in the country and thus can be open with good snow long before anyone else in the area. It is also very teen-friendly and easily accessible from much of the far west, and by air. Equally important, it is surprisingly affordable. Check out their season passes with are a secret bargain.

I live out west and it is a special winter when you can get on the mountain before x-mas & new years in the Lake Tahoe area. I would wait until a couple of weeks before your planned trip before I'd book a flight.

As much as I Love Park City, it might not be the best place for "early season" snow. Look for higher elevations and latitudes. Think Breck, Keystone, Copper, Big Sky, Whitefish etc.
