  • When To Go Mt. Cranmore opens in mid-December and closes the first week in April. The best time to go is from January to mid-March. Despite 100 percent snowmaking, Cranmore's low elevation makes early- and late-season conditions unpredictable, so call ahead.

  • Getting There From Boston (120 miles) or Providence (165 miles): Take I-95N to Portsmouth, where you take exit 4 to access the Spaulding Turnpike (Rt. 16) to N. Conway; turn right at the light. The area is 1 mile to the east.
  • Lodging The Yankee Clipper rents rooms from $49-$59, with breakfast coupon for the adjoining Blueberry Muffin (603-356-5736); Prices at the Eastern Slope Inn, located in the middle of the village, range from $90-$115 (800-862-1600); The Buttonwood Inn, 1 mile from the mountain, runs $95-$175, including full breakfast and après-ski snacks (800-258-2625).
  • Eats Try the Muddy Moose for hamburgers and a fun family atmosphere (603-356-7696); Horsefeathers has been the locals' favorite for more than 20 years (603-356-6862); Stonehurst Manor offers fine dining in a Victorian mansion (603-356-3113).
  • Drinks The Cranmore Pub¿located at the base of the mountian¿is perfect for après-ski; Delaney's Hole in the Wall is a favorite in North Conway; for music, The Red Parka Pub in Glen has live bands Thursday through Saturday.
