Queenstown, New Zealand is a hotbed for some of the best skiing in the Southern Hemisphere. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu beneath the Southern Alps, Queenstown is only 30 minutes from two ski resorts, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables, and just a few hours drive from Mt. Cook.

In addition to skiing, Queenstown offers a myriad of activities including fishing, rafting, jetboating, golfing, winetasting, bungy jumping, sky diving, and countless others.

With a population of only 9,000, Queenstown is a quaint little ski town that could be likened to Aspen, CO. Queenstown is intimate enough to walk around and is equipped with malls and boutiques that provide the best in handcrafted New Zealand-made products.

Holidaze Ski Tours offers their "Eight Day Taste of Queenstown" package starting at USD$1,195 (NZD$2,290.15). The package includes round-trip airfare on Air New Zealand from Los Angeles to Queenstown, all airport to hotel transfers, five nights accommodation (double occupancy), and a full-day excursion to the Milford Sound that includes a Red Boat cruise. For more information and to book your vacation call Holidaze Ski Tours at 800-526-2827.

Coronet Peak
Coronet Peak is located just 30 minutes from Queenstown and is New Zealand's premier and most accessible ski resort. Coronet Peak's 50 years of experience perfecting the art of the ski vacation sets the standard for excellence. With it's summit at 5,414-feet and a 1,477-foot vertical drop, Coronet Peak offers terrain from the very beginner to the utmost ripper. When your legs are ready to give out, kick back in the West End or Rocky Gully Cafes, or head back to Queenstown and relax over a meal at The Coronet Brasserie--one of Queenstown's best restaurants. Coronet Peak boasts five lifts, terrain parks, heli-skiing at Vanguard, and a first-rate ski school.

Package prices for Coronet Peak run from USD$1,300 (NZD$2.491.38) - USD$2,400 (NZD$4.599.46), during their main season from July 1-September 30. The packages include round-trip airfare from Los Angeles to Queenstown, a meet and greet at Queenstown airport, all hotel to airport transfers, five nights accommodation, and a Great Sights Discover Milford tour of Queenstown. For more information call Holidaze Ski Tours at 800-526-2827.

Ski pass prices start at USD$67 (NZD$128.40) for a six day resort pass that gives you unlimited lift access to Coronet Peak and The Remarkables and includes daily shuttle transportation. You can also exchange your full day Milford Sound Excursion for the Exclusive Ski Express Resort Pass. The Pass includes daily shuttle transport from your hotel to either Coronet Peak or The Remarkables with unlimited lift access for both day and night skiing.

Mt. Cook
It's a bit of a trek to Mt. Cook, located 185 miles from Christchurch in the heart of New Zealand's Southern Alps. However, it's worth the effort because the Mt. Cook National Park boasts of ddramatic alpine landscapes and more peaks over 10,000-feet than in all of Europe. These massive mountains yield some of the best alpine ski touring in the land. Local outfitter, Alpine Guides Ltd., offers plenty of tours that explore the vast snowfields of the Tasman and Murchison glaciers. With thousands of acres of white, blissful snowfields, the Tasman Glacier offers nearly six hours of uninterrupted intermediate skiing.

Holidaze Ski Tours offers a seven-days, six-night package that explores Queenstown, Mt. Cook, and the Westland National Parks. This package is in addition to the Queenstown vacation. Prices start at USD$2,200 (NZD$4,216.17) and include three nights in Queenstown, a cruise on the Milford Sound, two nights at the famous Franz Joseph Glacier, and a TransAlpine scenic rail journey. For more information or to book a trip call Holidaze Ski Tours at 800-526-2827.

The Remarkables
The Remarkables is located 40 minutes from Queenstown and offers a wide variety of terrain. From their long cruisers to their gut-wrenching chutes, the 5,200-plus foot based resort is armed with 550 acres of skiable terrain. Don't feel like spending all your time on the mountain? Then join others at New Zealand's first cat skiing operation that runs from the base lodge to the surrounding acres of untracked powder. There are no lodging facilities at the base of The Remarkables, so staying in Queenstown is a must.

Package prices for The Remarkables run from around USD$1,300 (NZD$2,491.38)-$2,400 (NZD$4599.46). The packages include round-trip airfare from Los Angeles to Queenstown, a meet and greet at Queenstown airport, all hotel to airport transfers, five nights accommodation, and a Great Sights Discover Milford tour of Queenstown.
