Who says you can't go back again? Peter Pan, get thyself to Smugglers' Notch, where kids are king but (shhhh!) it's the grown-ups who really hit it big. While children revel in their age-appropriate mountain programs that feature everything from nature hikes to tennis to water slides, grown-ups are treated like great big kids in the adult camp program.
In and around this true "destination" resort (the only time you'll use your car is at check-in and check-out) adults can take part in kayaking, a ropes course, tennis, golf, hiking and more. All day long the place positively hops with action¿a pickup adult volleyball game to your left; a killer tennis clinic to your right¿and yet you feel entirely relaxed. Might have something to do with the setting, featuring some of the most breathtaking peaks in the East, including Sterling, Madonna and Mount Mansfield. Or it might simply be that you know your kids are happy, active and (how about that?) not whining about being bored.
Evenings are for reuniting happy parents with exhausted children at bonfires, karaoke and old-fashioned races. Tucked into your sublime accommodations, you'll feel like the kid you once were. Fountain of Youth, thy name is Smuggs. ¿M.M.
