The Ultimate Ski Day: Deer Valley

The Ultimate Ski Day: Deer Valley

posted: 01/01/2000

Deer Valley 8:45am-9:20am Vertical: 3,000 feet

Warm temperatures and clear blue skies greeted us as we arrived fifteen minutes before the lifts opened--plenty of time to boot-up and head to the lift to begin our journey.

As the lifts opened at 9:00am, Ski Utah's Karen Marriott (who skied the first three resorts with us), Rafferty, and I rode the Carpenter Express lift to the untouched corduroy that awaited us at the top.

The groomers were so smooth and fast that we felt one run was not enough. Two runs down Deer Valley's immaculate and perfectly groomed trails, Big Stick and Solid Muldoon, proved to be just what we needed to warm up for the trip. Since the sun had not fully cleared the mountaintops, the snow was rather hard-packed, with some corn to be found in the sunny spots.
