In all, the day totaled:
Having skied Utah some ten years ago, I thought I knew what to expect when entering this skiathon. But, when I arrived at Deer Valley, I found that all I knew were the few, fuzzy memories that still remained in my brain.
The escapade opened my eyes to the accessibility of the seven resorts that sit right at Salt Lake City's doorstep. Had Rafferty and I not taken two or more runs at each resort, we could have easily finished our journey by 1:00pm.
Throughout the trip, I was struck by the way in which Utah's otherwise desert-floor drastically rises to the heavens in clusters of mountains, all so close to the Mormon capital of the world.
For a day in which I was awake for some 19 hours, it was well worth the short travel and lack of sleep. What seemed to be a long day on paper, turned out to be a fast-paced, fun-filled one that toured me through some of Utah's most exciting terrain-truly making for The Ultimate Ski Day: Utah Style.
