LOGISTICS
Whether you choose Argentina or Chile, a week-long trip to the slopes of South America is easy. Overnight flights from Miami leave at 10 pm and arrive at about 7 am local time, which means you can be skiing the first afternoon of your vacation.
Flights are routed through the cities of Buenos Aires and Santiago, so be sure to schedule in a day for sightseeing. Then the slopes are just a 45-mile drive or two-hour flight away.
In terms of timing, mid-July through August is your best bet. September conditions resemble North America's spring skiing. Go in June and you might be pushing your luck, because at resorts where snowmaking is limited or absent, conditions can be sketchy.
