MOUNT GAY RUM BARBADOS CHALLENGE
The Mount Gay Rum Barbados Challenge is a series of events held at destination resorts across the country in February and March of 2001.
Consumers and food and beverage managers are invited through local promotions, in-book (SKI and SKIING Magazines) brand advertising and promotional pages, and via the internet. Consumers compete for ski and snowboard prizes and the participant with the best winning time of the series receives a trip for two to Barbados. At each stop on the tour, Mount Gay Rum hosts two bar parties complete with entertainment, drink specials, and contests/raffles. Sponsors to date include Mount Gay Rum, Original Sin snowboards, K2 skis, Boeri helmets, and Blue Compass.

KAHLUA HALF PIPE JAM
Don't miss this year's 12 halfpipe events hosted by ski legend Glen Plake at the following locations. Sponsored by SKIING and Freeze magazines, these groundbreaking events are the first ever ski and snowboard halfpipe competitions in the country.

SKI FOR THE CURE

This event -- which benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and is sponsored by both SKIING and Ski Magazines -- is a race for charity during which skiers and riders raise money based on how many vertical feet they cover in a four-hour period. Skiers, snowboarders, cross-country skiers, and snowshoers are allowed to participate.
180 ASPEN SPRING JAM
March 31-April 15, 2001
The ultimate spring skiing and snowboarding festival features the opening ofAspen Mountain to snowboarding on April 1, daily hip-hop bands and DJs, and competitions including the KickAspen Big Air, Slopestyle, Speedcross,Doublecross, and Dash for Cash. Lift tickets are $29/day with rooms from$65/night.

VAIL MOUNTAIN MADNESS MARATHON
Saturday, April 7, 2001
This event is a 1500-gate Marathon on skis and snowboards, hosted by Chad Fleischer. This year marks the 7th Annual "Rubber Legs 150" giant slalom race down Vail Mountain for all ages and abilities of alpine, nordic and telemark skiers as well as snowboarders. Open to both individuals and teams of four. There are also categories for disabled individuals and "generations" teams.
The race begins at 11 A.M. on Simba, which can be accessed by the Lionshead Gondola.
Costumes are encouraged, and prizes are awarded for the most ingenious.
Following the race check out the Awards Celebration Bash at Trails End in Lionshead.
Cost is $60 per adult ($40 per child) and $240 for a team of four (includes lift credentials).
The event benefits two Vail non-profit organizations: the Colorado Ski Museum and Ski Club Vail.

PRO PHOTOGRAPHER SEARCH
April 16-17, 2001
The Pro Photographer Search is an incredible and rare opportunity for six talented photographers to show their work in Whistler during the TELUS WorldSki & Snowboard Festival (WSSF). The Pro Photographer events, a cornerstone of WSSF, attract significant attention from major magazines, the ski & snowboard industry, stock agencies, athletes and the public, and are credited with launching the careers of a number of past entrants.
To enter the Search, action sport photographers are invited to submit a slide page of twenty images for consideration. Six finalists will be chosento present as many images as they like within 12 minutes at one of twopublic screenings. The Best of Show, chosen by a panel ofesteemed judges, will go on to compete April 19 at the Showdown, deemed "theSundance Film Festival of still photos."
All interested action sport photographers are asked to submit a slide page of twenty duplicated images of their work to the Festival office at the address below by March 5, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. Images may not necessarily be returned and will not be published without prior consent of the photographer. A selection committee comprised of key industry figures will choose six finalists to present their work at the Pro Photographer Search April 16 & 17.
