Bentwood Bed & Breakfast
Located halfway between Jackson's bustling Town Square and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village, Bentwood Bed & Breakfast embodies Wyoming hospitality. It starts with the heartfelt greeting you get from innkeepers Nell and Bill Fay (not to mention the enthusiasm of Moose, their massive chocolate Labrador retriever).
Eight years ago, the couple decided to realize their dream of living in Jackson. Once settled, they proceeded to design and build the striking, 6,000-square-foot golden log home that would house a bed and breakfast, plus ample living space for their family of four. "We wanted to create a place that felt like it had been there a long time, with lots of nooks and crannies to explore," Nell explains. "It's our dream home, and our guests can share it, too."
The Fays designed each of five guest rooms with a fireplace, deck and private bath, and filled them with a mix of English antiques and Western artifacts. The Bunkhouse, a large, suite-style room, features an "inglenook" bed, a sitting room and a loft. Cowboy has log walls and home-on-the-range décor. Ralph's Room is decorated à la Ralph Lauren, while Wildflower has a four-poster bed and its own outside entrance. Glory Bowl offers an Indian motif and views of its namesake bowl.
At the heart of the inn, a central great room with 27-foot ceilings draws people in. Enjoy a drink by the floor-to-ceiling river-rock fireplace, or a chat with fellow guests about everything from local restaurants to powder runs.
Mornings-depending on whether it's an "egg day"or a "syrup day"-Nell dishes up fried eggs and grits, or German-style apple pancakes on artfully mismatched china in the homey breakfast nook. Rates begin at $215 (double occupancy, breakfast included). Contact: 307-739-1411; fax 307-739-2453; www.bentwoodinn.com; e-mail email@example.com.
