Georgetown, Colo. -- February 11, 2002 -- Adventuresome couples will converge upon Loveland Ski Area on Valentine's Day for the area's 11th annual mountaintop wedding ceremony. "Mountaintop matrimony has become a bit of a tradition at Loveland. It's a fun event to be a part of and has become something we all look forward to," says Special Events/Promotions Coordinator Ken Kelley. Last year's Valentine's Day gala saw 83 couples tie the knot or renew vows.
Couples may register directly with Loveland Ski Area by calling 303.571.5580, Ext. 141. Registered couples will receive one free lift ticket with the purchase of one regular-priced adult lift ticket at Loveland on the day of the event. Registration is free and couples wishing to be legally wed must have a marriage license ready. Participants must be at least 18 years old and be able to ski or snowboard down the hill after the ceremony.
Harry Heilman, Registered Minister with Universal Life Church will conduct the ceremony starting at high noon Thursday, February 14, 2002 at Ptarmigan's Roost cabin at the top of Chair #2. For animal safety Loveland asks that birdseed be used in lieu of rice. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Loveland Basin Lodge, catered by numerous food and beverage sponsors. Wedding cake and flowers will be provided by Mulberries Cakes, Flowers, Etc. and gift baskets will be available from Bolder Basket Kase.
The reception is free to participants and registered guests. Each couple may register six guests for the reception at any JC Keepsake Diamond Center. Additional guests may register for the reception at Loveland Ski Area the day of the event for $10.
