Getting There From Boston, the trip is about two and a half hours. Take I-93 to I-89 north. Then take I-91 north to exit 14 (Thetford). Take a right off the ramp and then go about 100 yards before taking a left toward Lyme (about 1.8 miles). Continue east through town. Take the right fork at the white church, and go straight 3 miles to the Skiway.
Closest Lodging The restored Victorian-era Norwich Inn (802-649-1143), located just across the state border in Vermont, has 16 rooms plus additional suites and its own brewery. The larger, more upscale Hanover Inn (800-443-7024), located on the town green, has lift-and-lodging packages.
Best Eats Lou's for breakfast; In Lyme, Alden's Inn has a cozy dining room and specials like German night. Fine dining at the Hanover Inn.
Après-Ski Hanover is a college town with all the nightlife that entails. Dartmouth's Hopkins Center hosts cultural activities year-round. Skating on Occum Pond.
Java Joints Locals gather for coffee talk at Lou's on Main Street. If you prefer a latte, try the Dirt Cowboy Café.
Locals' Tip After a bout of nasty, wet New England weather, the Skiway is the first area to buff its slopes out.
