A Hot Spot for Spot

A Hot Spot for Spot

Travel

Daycare at vermont's two dog lodge is typical: playtime, snack time, nap time, a plunge in the wading pool (weather permitting) and maybe even a bit of TV. But it's dogs—not children—who frolic in the 14,000-square-foot playground and watch Animal Planet at the Two Dog Lodge, a newly refurbished inn in Stowe, Vt. The inn, which opened in July, offers both people-pleasing and canine-friendly amenities (hot tub and sauna for one, dog bed and bowl for the other). Select rooms also feature lamps, bedsteads, trunks and mirrors hand-carved by renowned Vermont folk artist and dog lover Stephen Huneck. The daycare program ($15—$25 per day) gives dogs outdoor and indoor playtime, plus access to sticks, balls, a play tunnel and other wag-inducing dog toys. Guests may also choose to crate their dogs or hire a dog sitter ($6 per hour). Rooms start at $99, while cabins, which sleep from six to nine people, start at $150. Rates include a continental breakfast (fruit, muffin, juice, dog biscuits) delivered in—what else?—a doggie bag.
