TEMERITY, ANOTHER WORD FOR CHUTZPAH
Say goodbye to the rock-strewn hate traverse that is the exit from Aspen's Highland Bowl. The resort is stringing up a new fixed-grip double chair that'll start some 1,000 feet below the current whoop-de-do track, which means 1,000 more feet of skiable vert. The Temerity lift will rise up 1,700 feet and land at the top of Loge Peak, open up 270 more acres, and double the length of Kessler Bowl and Sodbuster. "Locals come up and ask, 'Is the lift in yet? I heard helis! I heard blasting!'" says Ron Chauner, area manager for Highlands. "We have a couple instructors helping us cut runs-they're that psyched."
