Canyon Critters

Alta, which sits at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, 45 minutes outside Salt Lake City, Utah, has no town, no Main Street, no scene. At the end of their shifts, employees don't pop into swank martini bars for melon-and-prosciutto tapas. They don't crash at their parents' rustic-chic cabins with elk-antler chandeliers while they decide which graduate school's creative writing program suits them best. No, at Alta, they simply walk to their assigned subterranean hovels and pass out in a stupor. Tomorrow is a powder day, and the Altaholics, the guys who toil away in every kitchen and lift line here at the capital of American powder skiing, must be ready. Check out the related articles below to hear their stories.
