Quick Spring Trips: Northstar-at-Tahoe, CA

The Hook
Itching for some summer-style action but not ready to stash your skis? Meet Tahoe, your spring intermediary. Ski all morning—head over to Lookout Mountain's underutilized advanced glades—then zip down to the lake for some sailing, beach-walking and even spring water-skiing. (Don't forget your wetsuit.) Or head to Reno and play 9 holes before dinner. Kings Beach, six miles from the resort, is known as the North Shore's banana belt because it gets sun from early morning through late afternoon.

Convenience Quotient
High. Northstar is a 30-minute drive up Interstate 80 from the Reno, Nev., airport—where over 170 flights arrive daily from 23 cities—or a scenic three-hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area. Stay in Northstar Village, or lay your head in nearby Truckee or Incline Village, both within a quick drive.

The Deal
April 1–April 13, get two free lift tickets for each night you stay in one of Northstar's lodging properties. Prices start at $103 per person, per night (northstarattahoe.com).

Don't Miss
The Stash, new this season, is North America's only all-natural terrain park. All 54 features are made entirely from logs and other materials native to the Tahoe region (thestash.com).
