Nothing in Telluride is as spectacular as the views, and no restaurant in town or the village showcases the vistas like Allred’s Steakhouse. Set at the top of the gondola, it’s the perfect stopping point for a midday snack ($10–$20), après appetizer ($10–$20) or evening meal ($30–$50). For dinner, pick from a selection of steak, seafood, game and poultry, and pair it with one of several house-made sauces, including leek-and-goat-cheese fondue and sage brown butter.
Whatever you decide to eat, request a table facing the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the sawtooths across the valley and the town below. If those spots are taken, consider the second-best view of the open kitchen. Reserve the chef’s table, where executive chef Mike Weist will prepare a unique tasting menu with wine pairings for 4 to 6 guests ($85 per person).
