Castlerock Pub

Castlerock Pub

With drinks that taste like desserts, this après-ski hot spot will almost make you want to quit early. Almost.

When the sun dips low and casts shadows on skied off trails, don’t get in your car and drive home. Ski up to the Castlerock Pub. Located at the base of Sugarbush Mountain, this new bar and restaurant is the place to be for après-ski. No wonder we named it the East’s best new slopeside bar in 2009. Stroll in for casual lunch midday where they offer moderately priced sandwiches, subs, and salads (about $9 each). On nice days sit outside where a heated patio provides million-dollar views of Lincoln Peak. Most Saturday nights a live band attracts music and ski lovers alike. Wind-burned skiers in rolled ski pants and helmet hair enjoy local beers at a newly expanded bar. The drink menu has titles that sound as great as they’ll make you feel. Try a hot après ski cocktail like the Peppermint Patty (peppermint schnapps, hot chocolate and whipped cream), and the Hot Apple Pie (goldschlager, hot Cold Hollow cider, and whipped cream), or opt for one of 15 classic Vermont microbrews.

Meals approx. $11; Sugarbush.com
