For a taste of iconic Jackson Hole, go to the Mangy Moose. Even though the restaurant in Teton Village is usually filled with tourists, it’s incredibly convenient. Just a few steps from the bottom of the mountain, the bar has a great après scene. Along with a few beers or a fresh fruit margarita, try their famous burger, made with local beef, and French fries. If a burger and fries is not your thing, the menu changes often and is always Western-eclectic, featuring things like spicy buffalo meatloaf and black angus top sirloin marinated in Guinness and grilled with bourbon braised onions. The service can be slow to non-existent, but it’s worth it just to say you’ve been there. Opened for business way back in 1967, the restaurant has seen Jackson go from a sleepy western town to a bustling skiing and hiking destination. Make sure to get drinks on a Friday and Saturday night when the bar often has live music. Tickets are sold at the door and a decent crowd always turns out, although you’ll have to leave the little ones at home since all shows are 21 and over.
