DAN TREADWAY
AGE: 28
HOMETOWN: Whistler, British Columbia
TITLE: Pro freeskier and carpenter
HEIGHT: 5'11"
WEIGHT: 175 lbs.
YEARS IN THE BUSINESS: 6
SPECIALTY: Treadway ups the wow factor by airing off 100-foot cliffs when conditions permit. He and Hugo Harrisson choose their lines with as little scouting as possible: Heli time is money.
BIG BREAK: In 2000, he launched OD (named for Dan and his bud, Oli), a permanently closed, 75-foot-tall cliff on Whistler Mountain. When the resort blacklisted him, local outcry, complete with FREE TREADWAY bumper stickers, put him on the map.
["Check out Treadway's essential gear for heli drops."]
TOOLBOX: "I'm not much of a gear freak," he says. "I usually don't even bring water in the heli." Treadway does, however, listen to Motörhead on his Oakley Thump MP3 sunglasses while waiting to drop in.
