MONT-TREMBLANT (press release) - Tremblant will come alive in a celebration of hope December 13, 14 and 15 asFormula One racing star Jacques Villeneuve brings his "Grand Prix 24 heures deTremblant" back to the picturesque mountain village to raise money forresearch into juvenile diabetes.

Capitalizing on the success of their inaugural twenty-four hour skimarathon in 2001, Villeneneuve, along with business partner and manager CraigPollock, will return to Tremblant this December to host a full weekend of skiand après ski activities that will feature celebrity ski teams and otherwinter sport enthusiasts. Last year's Grand Prix saw more than 700 skiers andsnowboarders raise in excess of $300,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes ResearchFoundation.

"We were overwhelmed by the support received for our first event in NorthAmerica from skiers and snowboarders across the continent," said Villeneuve."Selecting Tremblant as the venue for the "24 heures" was a wise choice.Tremblant's reputation for excellence is known internationally and it provideda compelling reason for our participants to choose to ski for charity. Peopleknow Tremblant, they know the skiing is great, that the village is a fun spot, and that if they get involved with a charity event here, it's going to be amemorable one."

At 915 vertical meters (3,001 feet) Tremblant is the highest mountain inthe Laurentians, the oldest mountain range on earth. Known as a four seasonsdestination, the charming village of Tremblant offers first classaccommodations and an exciting nightlife.

Patterned after Villeneuve and Pollock's annual 24-hour marathon inVillars- sur-Ollon, Switzerland, the Tremblant event is the only NorthAmerican fundraiser. The Grand Prix, a friendly relay race taking place over24 consecutive hours by teams of 4 to 6 people whose goal is to cover amaximum number of kilometres possible on the designated trails, will seecompetitive and recreational skiers vie for top honors in a variety ofcategories.

Along with the ski portion of the event, visitors will be treated to liveentertainment from some of the Canada's top performers. Also on tap arestreet performances and other festivities.

"This event offers a great opportunity for those who would like to take apre- holiday break and spend a great weekend at one of North America's mostbeautiful resorts," said Craig Pollock. "Last year's event was only a taste ofhow exciting the Grand Prix 24 heures de Tremblant can be. I stronglyencourage anyone who has an interest in ski and a need to give back to thoseless fortunate than themselves, to put a team together and join us. It'sgoing to be a great experience."
