Killington, VT Feb. 19, 2004 (PR) -- While other resorts in the Northeast begin winding down their season around this time, Killington, home of the longest ski and snowboard season in the East, kicks into high gear for its second season. During this time, skiers and riders will enjoy deep base depths, long sunny days, a full line-up of springtime events, and the just announced $229 March into Spring Pass.
The $229 March into Spring Pass offers unlimited skiing and riding at all eastern American Skiing Company resorts beginning on Feb. 29 through the end of the season. Eastern American Skiing Company resorts include Killington, Pico and Mount Snow in Vt., Sunday River and Sugarloaf/USA in Maine and Attitash Bear Peak in N.H. Killington Resort has offered the longest season in the East for 42 years and counting, typically until Memorial Day, sometimes into June. The $229 March into Spring Pass may be purchased at killington.com or by calling (800) 621-MTNS. Starting on Feb. 27 the pass may also be purchased at any ticket window.
With over 160 inches of snowfall to date and the snowy months of March and April ahead, Killington's second season provides an unparalleled mountain experience. Powder and packed powder conditions, longer days, more sunlight, and a fun party atmosphere describes Killington's second season to a tee.
"Make sure you've got a good pair of sunglasses," said Gillis Lynn, vice president of brand management for Killington. "People who put away the ski and snowboard gear after the Presidents' Holiday are missing out on some of the best skiing and riding of the year. The days are long, the snow is seven feet deep in spots, and everyone just seems to have a great time."
On average, the East's largest resort sees at least six feet of natural snow in its second season, allowing for skiing and riding until Memorial Day, sometimes into June. Killington snowmakers spend the first winter season building Superstar's "glacier," the 30-foot mound of snow that is stockpiled to provide skiing and riding later that any resort in eastern North America.
