Back when most resorts discouraged treeskiing, Jay was chill. Now they’re reaping the rewards of that progressive attitude. Hardcores come from afar for chutes and glades and the deep powder that so often smothers them. Jay reports more snow than any other Eastern resort. That’s good for the No. 1 ranking in Snow to go with No. 1 rankings Terrain/Variety and Challenge and a No. 5 for Overall Satisfaction. For now, as one reader puts it, it’s “BYO nightlife.” But with a new base village rising, not for long.
