With two mountains, three villages, a transit system, and a multitude of lodging and dining options, Shanty Creek is so expansive it blurs the line between resort and small country. "Lots to choose from," says a reader. Combined, Summit and Schuss peaks total 47 runs, with "excellent terrain for intermediates with a good layout of runs and lifts," according to another reader. Overlooks of Lake Bellaire from the Summit slopes and the Jordan River Valley from atop Schuss Mountain are among the most spectacular vistas in Michigan.

The Latest New rails added in Schuss terrain garden and the halfpipe has been enlarged. All new children's area at Schuss. Additional lighting for night skiing.

The Deal Value package includes one night lodging, one Superticket good for day/night skiing on Summit and Schuss mountains or a dinner. Children 17-under sleep and ski free when in same accommodations with parents. 800-678-4111; shantycreek.com
