Mt. Hood SkiBowl is gaining a reputation for challenging ski runs with the addition of its Outback area and 1,500 feet of vertical reached from Upper Bowl. The mountain is now rated at 60 percent expert, but the 65 runs have enough variety for all skills. Beginners have some nice terrain, although the unloading ramps on the Multorpor side can be steep and intimidating for those at this level. The Multorpor side and the Outback are favorites for snowboarders.The Terrain Park, on Lower Surprise, features a halfpipe, hips, lips, rollers and spines. The Stump Garden is a boardercross course, accessible from the Cascade chair. Mt. Hood SkiBowl is one of America's largest night-skiing areas. It illuminates 34 runs, including some truly steep black-diamond runs. It also emphasizes ski racing, with programs for a variety of age groups.
