From Mount Snow:
Mount Snow underwent over $9 million in capital improvements over the summer, the marquee element in those improvements being the installation of North America’s only high speed detachable six passenger bubble lift; the Bluebird Express. This $8+ million lift cuts the ride time from base-to-summit in half of the lift it replaced, a fixed grip triple called the Summit Local, from 15 minutes to a little over seven minutes. The bubble on each chair provides guests with similar protection from the elements as a gondola cabin, but with the comfort and convenience of keeping skis and boards on their feet. The chairs will come off the line every night and will be stored in a 60’X130’ timber frame barn right next to the bottom terminal to keep the chairs dry and reduce the amount of time needed to get the lift spinning after an overnight ice or sticky snow event.
Other lift improvements include new chairs equipped with footrests and padded seats were installed on the Grand Summit Express, a new electronic drive was installed in the Challenger Lift and a new communication line was installed on Canyon Express. All of these improvements are expected to significantly reduce the amount of downtime the lift system at Mount Snow experiences during the winter.
Also new this year is 1900’ Burger, Mount Snow’s own gourmet burger joint located in the Main Base Lodge. Turning out hand formed, Certified Angus Beef patties, hand-cut fries, thick milkshakes, a gourmet grilled cheese menu and great beer selection; 1900’ Burger is sure to be an instant favorite.
Mount Snow has installed new, 40” LCD monitors throughout the resort which will display the snow report, weather and event updates. These monitors can be updated instantly, dramatically improving the relay of information about conditions and lift status to our guests.
